There are also many Matai growing along the walking track which have average circumferences around 4m'. Baird 1992. This tree was blown over on 17 January 2005. An article appeared in the Southland Times 1 February 2005 recording this loss of a landmark tree. Estimated by DOC.to be approximately 800 years old. Baird 2005. |
