These trees appear to have been misidentified in the past or associated with several historical references for 3 Balsam firs that may have been present at his site. There are 4 Douglas fir in this location of the park (Colin Ogle, email April 2014)
The stand of covers an area of 242sq.m. The tallest one is recorded here. These trees are believed to have been planted by Mr. Frank Moore, who was the original owner of Bushy Park. The park is now owned by the Royal Forest and Bird Protection Society of New Zealand (Fielding 1992). Note: Mr Fielding associated these trees to the Burstall record for balsam fir earlier recorded here (NZNTT 2014) This following historical reference relates to Abies balsamea (NZNTT 2012) 'The best of three trees which include the tallest and largest of the species in New Zealand.
