Large veteran totara. Lone remnant of lowland broadleaf/ Podocarp forests of Banks Peninsula. Tree is in good health, single/multi-stemmed. A fire in the canopy roughly 30 years ago is still visible with large deadwood snaps and blackened wood. Estimated to be roughly 500 years old by local botanist and legend Hugh Wilson (Evans, B., 2025).
