General Notes:
|
A large twin-stemmed puriri tree near the entrance to Kaiaua Domain. It sits on the northern bank of the Hauārahi Stream that runs along the edge of the domain, with branches reaching across to the other side. The tree is said to be 800 years old [1], with no confirmation for that date. Although a notable feature of the village, with the street that leads to the domain named for it, there is no official record of protection in the Hauraki District Plan. One stem is hollow and fire scared. The tree has absorbed a cabling system that was mounted between the stems, obviously quite some time ago.
