This tree is the 1st of 2 rare examples of large mature Kahikatea in the east Auckland region. It stands at the bottom of a valley in a small flat area next to a stream and steep cliffs. This Beauty is about 35 metres tall and has been measured at just under 5 metres in circumference Its counterpart about 15 metres away was probably as tall but snapped at the top but is much more impressive at the base (Morrison, J.W.)
