Tree Information x

Identifier: OR/1954
Tree Type: Single
Registered By: Cadwallader, B.G.
Registration Category: Historic tree/s – Local interest
General Notes:
A plaque down at lakeside below the tree credits the 1957 planting of this tree to George Studholme and Jim (James) Ironside.

The Wanaka Lakefront Reserves Management plan states that ‘Grandad’ Studholme (owner of the County Nursery in the Cardrona Valley), gifted the tree to Jim Ironside, who was farming at nearby Tuohys at the time. A plaque in memory of Ironside was subsequently placed near the tree in the 1980s, with the hill now being known as Ironside Hill (Cadwallader, B.G., 2024).
