Shortly after the tree was recorded on the NZ Tree Register and being nominated for protection the tree was cut down on 11 January (pers. comm, Jan 17, 2023).
This oak tree was planted by Orlando Torrington Durham in 1918. Orlando was a market gardener and was known in the area during that time (Errington, N., 2022). |
