A well established tree originally planted in the centre of the hard court area with the administration block being added some time later.
The elm was planted in memory of a schoolboy who died on the March 28, 1929. Nine year old Douglas Alexander Wilson was riding home for lunch the previous afternoon where he was tragically struck a short distance from his destination by a lorry coming out of an orchard driveway onto Pakowhai Road.
