Tree Information x

Identifier: WCR/1747
Tree Type: Single
Registered By: Chris Barnes
Registration Category: Notable tree/s – Local interest
General Notes:
A fine old lowland tōtara which has survived being scarfed up many years ago in preparation for felling but then left. The hollowness of the tree has likely saved it. New wood has formed either side of the scar and the tree appears in good health. A similar hollow tōtara is found nearby. These trees are relics of a once rich tōtara forest (Barker, K. P, 2021).
